What is geofencing for a fleet?
Geofencing means drawing virtual zones on the map, such as a depot, a job site, a customer’s premises or a whole region, and being notified when a vehicle enters or leaves them. In the Tracky platform, zones are drawn by hand, with no limit on how many, and each one can have its own authorized hours. When a vehicle crosses a boundary, the alert goes out in real time. Every entry and exit stays in the history, which gives you arrival and departure times at each site without asking the driver anything. It is the tool that turns a map of positions into operating rules.
When is geofencing useful?
On a job site, to know when a machine leaves the site or runs outside working hours. In car rental, to be alerted when a vehicle leaves the region set in the contract. In distribution, to time-stamp arrival at each customer and have proof if there is a dispute. At the depot, to spot a vehicle going out at night or on the weekend.
Every industry has its own zones. The industry solutions pages show typical settings, from construction to car rental.
How are zone alerts delivered?
By email, text message or WhatsApp, as you choose, and in the platform itself. Thresholds are set vehicle by vehicle: a delivery van does not have the same zones as a piece of construction equipment. The alerts module brings zone rules together with the other events being monitored, such as speed or after-hours ignition.
Questions about Geofencing
How many zones can I create?
As many as you need: there is no limit on the number of zones. Each zone is drawn by hand on the map and can have its own authorized hours.
Can a zone be allowed only at certain times?
Yes. Each zone can have its own authorized hours. A machine on site during working hours triggers nothing, while the same machine running at night triggers an alert.
What is the difference between geofencing and real-time tracking?
Real-time tracking shows where your vehicles are. Geofencing adds rules: it checks each position against your zones and tells you when a boundary is crossed, so you do not have to watch the map.
