Real-time tracking in the Tracky platform

What is real-time vehicle tracking?

Real-time vehicle tracking means seeing the position of every vehicle in your fleet on a map, continuously, along with its speed, heading and engine status. A GPS tracker fitted in the vehicle works out its position by satellite and sends it to the Tracky platform over the 3G/4G network. The fleet manager sees the whole fleet on one screen, from a web browser or the mobile app, and knows at any moment which vehicles are moving, which are stopped and which are idling. When the network drops out, in a mountain dead zone or on a long southern road, the tracker keeps recording in its memory and syncs the full history as soon as the signal returns, with no gaps in the trips.

What is real-time tracking used for day to day?

First, answering questions without calling the driver. A customer asks where their delivery is: the position is on the map. A vehicle has to go out urgently: you send the closest one, not the one you think is free.

Second, spotting what costs money. Long stops, idling with the engine running and detours all show up in each vehicle’s history. Trip replay plays back a full day, stop by stop, which settles most delivery or timing disputes in a few minutes. Alerts warn you the moment something happens, and geofencing watches your zones.

What do you need to track a fleet in real time?

One GPS tracker per vehicle, fitted by a technician in 20 to 30 minutes at your yard or depot, and access to the platform. The right tracker depends on what you want to measure: a simple model is enough for location and anti-theft, while a model that reads the CAN bus becomes useful as soon as fuel or engine data matter. The GPS tracker comparison covers the models Tracky installs. Data is hosted in Morocco, in line with Law 09-08.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about Real-time tracking

Does GPS tracking work without mobile coverage?

Yes. When the 3G/4G signal drops, the tracker keeps recording position, speed and engine events in its memory. As soon as the vehicle is back in coverage, the full history syncs to the platform, in order, with no gaps in the trips.

Can I track my fleet from a phone?

Yes. The Tracky platform works in a web browser and in the mobile app on iOS and Android. The map, trip history and alerts are available on both.

Is vehicle GPS tracking legal in Morocco?

Yes, within the framework of Law 09-08 on personal data protection. Tracking must serve a business purpose, employees must be informed before the system goes live, and the filing with the CNDP must be completed. Tracky hosts data in Morocco, which avoids the formalities of transferring it abroad.
